May. 4th, 2006 03:31 amPanda Bag FOR THE WIN!!

(Note: super image heavy!)
Hi folks! You may remember me from such entries as "erk, I haven't done a tutorial for these guys yet", a.k.a. Transformers Bag post!
OK, this used to be a t-shirt!!

Me = "AAARGH the incense!" *cough* *splutter* *oh noes*

emmav!)
My friend (
soundslikebuuu) and I decided it would be AWESOME to make PANDA BAGS! YUS!!
Sturdy sketchbook-sized bags made from scratch using glittery denim material, using half a side each of the t-shirt per bag.
Friendship bracelets? Pah!! ;)
OK, this is the whole bag. Pandas in Panties!!

This is the other side of the bag!

The two supremely straight lines were sewn by friend. ^_^ (I couldn't do it!)
These lines are just for decoration.
It has a complete zip fastening. It is about 35cm long!
I was so happy to find this random black satin taping. So much nicer than plain cotton!
As I am rubbish with zips, sewing a zip on the rim of the bag opening seems to be my way of doing it.

The inside! Made with the same denim!
There are two pockets on either side. They fit the following;
* Nintendo DS
* Mobile Phone
* Wallet/Purse
* Pens for drawing (we are manga arteests)

I managed to line the pockets with soft, satin pink material and edged the pockets with purple cotton taping (the same edging as on the Transformers bag)

The shoulder strap was one loooong piece of denim with "Panda!" sewn into it, using friends' sisters' snazzy machine (it makes my machine look WEAK!)
The zip has a ring-pull tab but I looped some black tape around it for ease of opening.
The strap is attached using two massive D-rings, attached to the sides of the bag by a swatch of rucksack strap material, very sturdy.

Big enough for sketchpads, whooooo!!!

THAT project was my third bag. The Transformers bag was my second (and most hardcore to date) bag. My first bag was this widdle one here that I made about a year ago;

...Princess Leia!!
I made it for a Star Wars Party hosted by
r4z0rg1rl and chums.
I wasn't really in a cosplay-kinda mood, but this fitted the theme!
Learn from your mistakes!!

The zip was cut to shape - but was cut too short. It should have been edged with something, and thus looks quite tatty. Whoops! Oh well, I made it in a rush and had never made a bag before.

Scrappy, but I guess kinda cute.

That's it for now! I hope you like what I've done and I really do promise that I shall do some little tutorials. I haven't forgotten!
