First Post/Stupid Question/Pictures

Not really new here, but this is my first post so hi.
Firstly, i have a really stupid question about iron-on shirt transfers made for black fabric. i guess i'm just retarded because i can't get it to work properly! i tried a few different times on a test piece of cloth and it came out with white around the image like a normal transfer! Has anyone here ever used Avery brand dark shirt transfers or had this problem? v___v It's really frustrating....

Oh, and so my post isn't entirely boring, here's some pictures of the skirt i made that i was planning to iron a design on....



It was a pain in the butt to make, but i <3 it! xD;;
