[identity profile] fullofstarz.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
so there's a big post going on in hot_fashion discussing these lovely pieces of jewelry....some think they're made of shrink plastic, but from looking at a lot of websites for them, it looks like they're about twice the thickness of shrinky dinks, at least the kind you get in sheet form. soooooooooooooooo. any ideas on how to duplicate this stuff? i remember yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears ago in seventh grade shop cutting out keychains from sheets of acrylic with some sort of industrial saw thing (possibly a jig saw?) but for some reason, i don't think that's how all of these are happening. in any event, i'd love an alternative to spending $30-$50 on one of these necklaces. one example:

i would link to the original hot_fashion post, but its friends only. another option to acrylic that was mentioned was poly carbonate? either way, i probably have access to whatever kind of plastic i would need, and access to a jig saw...i'm almost wondering tho if you could do this with some sort of heat tipped tool?

edited to add:  if you need more ideas on how these look,
