Precious Metal Clay Question
Jun. 1st, 2006 07:42 pmI want to make a metal circlet type headband with a cresent moon opening up. I normally do a lot of work with wire, but I want something solid this time, but I will do wire if I have to.
Now my question is for anything who has used precious metal clays.
If I were to make the circlet out of say the gold clay stuff would it be maleable enough to bend it after firing? Or would I only be able to get the curve before while the clay is still wet? I have never worked with any, and Im just wondering if it retains the maleability of the metal, or if its brittle because of process and the way its made.
I have a couple other ideas but I thought that the precious metal clay might give me some more freedom that I want for creativity.
Thanks!
