A few weeks ago I discovered lavender essential oil. I love the scent! I had gone to a new age type bookstore to check it out and told her that I have anxiety problems and asked what could help me relax. I barely finished asking when she said lavender. I was going to get the dried herb, but they were out. I looked at the essential oils and the second one I smelled I fell in love with--luckily it was also the cheapest :)

I told my mom and it turns out that she had some of the herb so she sent it to me here at school. Two years ago we went to a workshop on making dream pillows and the one I made has been displaced, so I thought I'd make a new one with lavender. Since the reading I have to do for class is terribly dull, I made two pillows :)

I've had this terribly cute Halloween fabric that would be perfect for an apron or a witchy project, but since I neither wear aprons nor do really witchy stuff I have to think of other things. I used a bit for the pillows. Just cut a shape, cut that down to what I wanted, folded it in half, and sewed all sides with a gap left to fill it. I used normal stuffing and put dried lavender in as I was going. In each pillow I put a chunk of stuffing that I had put some essential oil on. Then I just sewed up the gap (aren't you all glad I just explained how to make a simple pillow?).

The first one is a bit too big to be stuck in my pillowcase, so I made a bitty version as well.

And now my room smells lovely.

Herbs and essential oils can be researched and bought online, and found in new age type places and health food stores. If nothing else, they smell wonderful.
