[identity profile] ex-ruination262.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
Recently I've been seriously (serious enough to put money into it and commission a professional web designer) thinking of setting up an e-shop in the UK to sell mine and others crafts, and imported cute stuff from the US that we can't get here.

I've read the FAQ and it has been noted that some of you indeed have little nifty selling sites, but do you bother with tax and paper work, or are you selling on the "black market"? My mother sells some of her crafts, namely collectable bears and dyed silk devoréd scarves, and she said she'd have to make a note of everything and declare the income on a tax form at the end of year.
I guess my plans are kind of serious, so I probably should set up a business and accounts (I'm currently completing a book keeping course so at least I can do that myself) or do you think I can get away with not? Perhaps things are different for other nations, but I certainly ph34r(!) the tax man.

I have completed a year of business studies degree, but still I know not of the method and process of setting up a business, and the legal requirements, I don't expect help from people here for that though, as it is off topic, but it would be welcomed.

I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this post, but does anyone have any official business experience with regards to e-shops or selling crafts?
Also contacts with British creators and crafters who'd also like to sell their warez would be good.
