knitting question

I'm working on the Glampyre Knits One Skein Wonder right now, and I've gotten to the end of the first sleeve. It's in seed stitch, and it says to bind off very loosely. I only know one very basic bind off (the one from the SnB books), and I'm not sure is there's something else that would be more appropriate, or if I should just do the basic one on larger needles to keep it loose. Also, later in the pattern, I have to loosely bind of a 2x2 rib stitch as well. Any suggestions for either?

Oh also, I'm thinking of making my boyfriend a sweater for his birthday in December, and I'd love any pattern suggestions. He's sort of a glammy, goth boy, rockstar type, so I'm hoping to find something maybe fitted with buckles, or something like that. Maybe a turtle neck, or cowl neck of some sort? I can't find any patterns that are even close to his style.
