[identity profile] wilted-hyacinth.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
Hi everyone! I've never posted here before but I've been lurking for a while, and everyone here is so talented and well-informed that I have to ask your advice before I go ahead and do what I was planning on doing.

I recently bought these shoes:

I really love them and I've wanted brown sneakers forever, but the brown and blue color scheme isn't working for me because most of my clothes are brown, green, orange, and earthy colors like that. I may dress like a slob at times and my clothes might be a bit "out there", but I HAVE TO MATCH or I go CRAZY. I was thinking of altering the shoes so that they look more like this (excuse the poor photoshop skills):

I think I'm going to wind up using fabric paint and very small paintbrushes. According to the FAQ/memories, that looks like the best method. If anyone has a better suggestion though, that would be appreciated. I'm not sure if I'll stick to the orange zig-zag either. I think I want some orange on there, but maybe I'll do sun-shaped polka dots instead (didn't know how to do that on photoshop). So if anyone has suggestions about what kind of pattern or design to use to make them look better, or recommendations about how to do it or what supplies to use, thanks so much!

[I was also thinking about holepunching a bunch of colorful holes out of magazines and then using Mod Podge to put them on the shoe... but that was more like a fleeting fantasy because I don't think I could do that well and it would probably get messed up very fast.]

IDEAS??
