thanks to everyone who gave me advice about the outdoor mural my boyfriend's mom asked me to do. i thought i'd share the finished product:
my boyfriend's mom wanted a mural on a wall that boards up what used to be a garage (now it is a downstairs area they're turning into a family room or something). she wanted a garden scene, with letters nailed up saying their address (since people can never find their house, and they were hosting an engagement party friday night), and underneath that, their name (we didn't get a chance to nail that part up yet). it's hard to get a shot of the whole thing, since cars are usually in the driveway blocking my view, but these first two pics should give you a good idea of the actual painting, without the letters nailed up:

i used stencils for most of it, to make it easier on myself, and so my boyfriend could help, because we only had like 5 days to do this before the party.
some detail shots:

the letters for the address were done in glow-in-the-dark paint.

(i wiped away the orange chalk later, lol)
she's more than happy with the way it turned out, so that makes me happy :-)
