coasting away

Wow, it's been a long, long time since I've shown you guys anything. Not on purpose, o'course, and not because there hasn't been any crafting going on here. It's just been busy at Chez Sticky lately. But I made this pretty coaster! See?
Actually, I made four coasters, and I'm working on eight more. But that one there is the very first one of the very first set... it has three buddies that match it, even if they're a little less than perfectly square. They started because, well, a girl needs coasters and who ever thinks to craft coasters, anyway? Then I kept it up because they're great for using up my scraps (and boy, I have a lot of scraps) and they're pretty quick & easy, even with the patchwork and the quilting and the stupid bias tape. (Bias tape is stupid because I always poke myself while I'm pinning it. ALWAYS. And don't get me started on turning corners.) Most of the fabrics are vintage or repro and the backing and "batting" are recycled from old pants.
I think I might keep this set for myself, wonky edges and all, but the two other sets will be destined for the shop once they're done, one in pinks/florals and the other in kind of oranges/greens (not as hideous as it sounds, really).
