Aug. 10th, 2006 04:09 pmI have a question for you lovely crafters. I have two pairs of pants I just bought (for cheap, yay!) that have flowers embroidered on them, up near the pockets. I don't like the color of the embroidery and would either like to rip out the embroidery or dye it. It's thread, on dark denim on one pair and light denim on the other. I'm thinking a red dye. However, I don't want the dye to bleed like crazy all over the pants. I could also rip out the embroidery, but I tried with a seam ripper and it was slow going and didn't actually work all that well. Any thoughts would be welcomed.
Also, especially since this is a no-picture post, I thought I'd point you guys to About.com's beading section, specifically this African net necklace pattern.
Here is an alphabetical bead pattern database with quite a few patterns to choose from.
And here is the african net necklace pattern.
The net necklace is astonishingly easy, and works with all sorts of beads. I like to do five points of the pattern, then sew them into a circle through the beads at the top and make it into a flower. It's a really quick and impressive pendant for a necklace, or you can use 1 point of the pattern as an earring dangle. I use them as gifts. I'd just reinforce any point you hung the beading by with a little bit of wire through it.
