Embellishment ideas

craftgrrlI have this dress that my friend had made for her bridesmaids at her Medieval wedding. But it's rather plain, and now that the wedding is over, we don't have to worry about all the bridesmaids dresses looking the same. I was wondering if any of you crafty girls would have any clever ideas on what to do to dazzle the dress up a bit?
It's a simple T-dress style, so I didn't include a picture of the bottom. I was thinking of knitting a nice new belt for it, but someone suggested trim. I've never sewn anything like that before, so maybe you more experienced craft girls will have some ideas.
