Thrifting is fun! (and a question)

I've been looking around for something to use as displays and I found two suitcases (that match our business cards & hangtags quite nicely) and some wooden bowls. All for about $13. Woohoo! :)
Anyway, and here's part of my plan, and a question. I'm sanding the bowls and painting the insides, like this, and now I need to seal them. These are just going to be used to display things, so I basically just need something that will keep the paint from chipping off, and maybe make it a little shiny.

They're all different sizes, and some are oval and some are kind of a squared flower shape.
