there was an entry in the memories about gourds but it didnt really help me.

ive just found out that those weird looking kalabas thingies they sell in the store for decoration, can be hollowed out and become really hard! what a great discovery i thought, but now i am just really confused.

everywhere it says to let the gourd dry before hollowing it out. but how on earth do you know whether a gourd has dried or not? yes when they are hard they are dry but i find that fresh pumpkins are really hard aswell how do you tell the diffrence?

when you buy a gourd at a plant store (not as in on a plant but they sell them loose. ready to put somewhere for decoration) is it dry allready or not? i personally dont think they are yet but i quite honestly dont know how to tell.

any tips on hollowing out gourds that i should know? (i know i should probably wear a dust mask of sorts but thats all)

i dont want to make a birdhouse by the way (i live on the 4th floor and i dont really see many birds here at all, besides the birds that do fly here would most certainly not fit into a gourd) but rather id like to try to make a drinking cup!
