halloween costume progress
Oct. 1st, 2006 11:37 pmphotobucket is so slow on dial up >_>
anyways, i was super bored today so i started working on my halloween costume.
here is the sketch. i'm a "punk fairy". it's really lame. but it gives me an excuse to recycle old clothes and cut stuff up. and wear more black. and stripeys. ;)

next up, i finished the shirt. wooo. i bought a black tanktop at Meijer's and some fishnet tights. i cut those up and sewed them on as long sleeves. and then i made a skull stencil out of cardstock, and used acrylic paint to print it on there. the only thing is that it's off center, but oh well. it's only for one night of the year!

i'm working on the skirt right now, but i cut it up wrong so now i'm improvising. and i bought a petticoat at a halloween store, but when i took it home and tried it on, it was REALLY short. so it might be too short for my skirn. i dunno yet though.
oh did i mention i'm sewing this all BY HAND? my fingers are all pricked up :( i need to make myself a thimble out of clay or something, lol. but yeah, i tried to find a sewing machine at goodwill but no luck! there was an antique one for $60, and then they had the table kind, but i don't have room for one that big. so stitching it is! i'm not very good at stitching in a straight line, but in and out and hey, it's coming along.
oh and i got sick of picking my pins out of a box, so i made a little cushion friend:

:) it's made from a scrap t-shirt, and it's stuffed with it too, because i don't know what you stuff those with >_> but it works!
