I'm going to a dark-themed play party soon, and I need to make a velvet cape!

I have a Simplicity Pattern (5794, sleeve photo shown under the LJ cut), but the thing is, it'll take at least 6 1/2 yards of fabric. I want to make this cape out of black velvet (or something that looks like velvet). So...

Does anyone know any discount fabric websites?

I work at a fabric store, so I know exactly how expensive 6 1/2 yards of crushed velvet would cost me. *eep*
