(no subject)

So, this is probably a really, really stupid question. But I just had my sewing machine repaired, and am trying to learn to sew on it. I've threaded it fine, it should be functioning, but for some reason after sewing perfectly for about two or three inches, it will either jam up underneath and break the top thread. I can't for the life of me figure out why. I've tried adjusting all of the tensions and doing everything that I can think of, but still no go. Help? :(
