I'M A MAD ARTIST
Oct. 6th, 2006 02:24 amlike a mad scientist but with ART
before:

inspired by the opening credit sequence in The Science of Sleep!
step one: using my magical baby leatherman, remove the screws from the face of my fan

step two: tape a piece of paper to the face of the fan
the fan will be turned on, the paper will be spinning, and if all goes as planned, the paint will swirl like crazy like in the movie...

step three: gather paint and water and mixing supplies

step four: mix paint and water at various consistencies, testing each until perfect:
the method i used for dropping the paint onto the paper varied from first using a straw to next pouring it with a cup, until finally realizing that it was easiest and least messy to simply pour a bit of water into the bottle and to pour it that way.

(too much water)

(too much paint)

ah perfect!
step five: next color!

at this point i decided that a better way to apply the paint was to hold the bottle almost directly on the paper, very very close, to eliminate the large spots that occured where the paint initially hit the paper. you can see the large spots very well with the green and purple.
so, the next colors:

and the finished picture!

and i did another for good measure:

here are both together:

rad!!
