I found a free pattern online for wristwarmers out of Moonlight Mohair and I thought, How cool! So I printed it out. Several months later and after a *lot* more knitting than what I could do then, the local Hancock's was closing (I was in central NY all summer) and I found some of the yarn on sale, so I decided to give them a shot. Upon looking at the pattern after learning so much more about knitting, I said Hmm... these won't look very good (no offense meant to the writer of the pattern, it just wasn't what I was going for), so I decided to alter the pattern. I tweaked it and tweaked it, until I realized that the only thing I kept was the gauge reference.

PS, sorry for the ubercrappy pictures... they were taken by me, of me, on my cell phone, in my room, late last night. Yes, I managed to take a picture of both of my hands. It took some contorting and ingenuity.

NOTE: Edited to add approximate pattern!

The color's a lot better in person, too... it's alternating panels of a blue-undertone and a pink-undertone yarn. They're supershiny and sooo soft and warm.

EDIT:
For sake of share-age, here's the approximate pattern. Keep in mind I made these awhile ago, and on the fly at that, so this is my looking at them and the original pattern to try to make this up again.

GAUGE: 12 sts and 24 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] over stockinette using sz 10.5 [6.5 mm] (I took this from the pattern, only it says garter instead of stockinette)
Make 2.
Note: These wristlets are worked lengthwise.

Loosely cast on 23 stitches.
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11: p1, k3, p3, k3, p3, k3, p3, k3, p1.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12: k1, p3, k3, p3, k3, p3, k3, p3, k1.

The rest of the wristlet is made by alternating stockinette sections: the first, third, and fifth panels are reverse stockinette; the second and fourth are the right side. In pattern form:

Sections 1, 3, 5:
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11: Knit.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12: Purl.

Sections 2, 4:
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11: Purl.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12: Knit.

Bind off after Section 5 Row 12.

Finishing:
Starting at top, seam only section 5 together at side. Starting at bottom, seam ribbing section up through section 3 at side. Leave section 4 unseamed as a thumbhole. Work in all ends.

If the circumference is too small, I'd either add stitches in multiples of 6, or cast on 26 stitches and change the ribbing section to:
Row 1: p1, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p1
Row 2: k1, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k1
And then add stitches in multiples of 4 if it needs to be even bigger. That way it preserves the ribbed section, which is good to keep the top of them snug on your forearms.

If anyone notices anything wrong with my reasoning, please let me know, as I've never written a pattern before and haven't been knitting that long anyway (only with purpose since this March or so). Plus, it's late and I've had an antihistamine.
