Wonka Purse

This Halloween, I decided to dress as Veruca Salt. I wanted to make a giant Golden Egg as an accessory, but it wasn't working out. Luckily, the lovely ladies in
sew_hip gave me some great ideas. I loved the idea of a Wonka purse. So I ran out and got supplies on Friday, and whipped this together. It took me five hours to make. I'm really happy with how it came out. Really, really happy.
Presenting...the Wonka Bar purse!

It cost me less than $10. I used the Wonka Bar handbag I found on this page as a model, and used this square-bottom bag tutorial from Craftster. The outside is brown corduroy, and the inside is lined with this soft, fuzzy fabric I found in the remnants bin at Jo-Ann's. The purse makes me think of chocolate and coffee. Yum.
As you can see, I also made a Golden Ticket. I used gold scrapbook paper, stick-on letters, and a Sharpie.
The letters, hat, and orange border are felt. I freehanded the letters onto notebook paper, cut them out, pinned them to the felt, then cut around them. I forgot to include the curlicue on the K. Whoops! :) Aside from that, the "WONKA" is my favorite part of the purse. It was very difficult, but considering that I don't know how to draw, I think it came out well.

The purse is very floppy because I used cheap interfacing. I definitely learned my lesson there. What qualities should I be looking for in fusible interfacing? Is pricier really better?
A close-up of the inside:

I prefer zippered purses, because I don't have to worry about small things falling out. But I don't know how to do zippers in bags, so I just lined the whole thing with Velcro. :)
I also put in a little pocket with some of the leftover felt. It's the perfect size to hold my earplugs, Chapstick, and Psalm 91. And yes, that is a film canister. Old school!
One thing I loved about the bag is that helped people who didn't remember Willy Wonka very well to figure out what my costume was. All I had to do was hold up the bag and they got it. I'm hoping it'll help me win the costume contest at work on Tuesday.
Hope you guys enjoy!
