Amigurumi & Amiguru-minis!
Nov. 2nd, 2006 06:47 pmAfter I was given some lovely yarns (which I was planning on using for scarves or doll hair), I had to try making some of those cute crochet creatures.
Bernard, the chilly monster

6 inches tall, made from a brown chunky boucle that changes secondary color (green, red, purple). He is wearing a scarf and matching kitty-eared hat in green and yellow. He had eight legs and two stubby arms.
Then, going on the priciple that smaller=cuter, I made up some tiny animals, using embroidery floss/thread instead of yarn. I'm calling them amiguru-minis!
Stella the bunny

3 inches tall, dark pink body with a yellow and light pink dress and matching flower on her ear. I used the same sphere as Bernard for her head, but it turned out very oval shaped. So, patterns for yarn won't transfer over the same.
Oliver the cat

So cute! Barely 2 1/2 inches tall, with a dark blue body. He is wearing a ringer t-shirt and matching pants in spring green and grassy green. I used some tiny doll eyes, which are really hard to put in, but totally worth it.
So ~ how is crochet with the thread? It was really hard at first, because you have no where to hold onto your work. The second one was easier to work on... either way I thought the result was definently worth the effort. (But then again, I like working in miniature, so it might not be for everyone!)
