first post and a question

I've only been crocheting about a year. Please be kind :) Mostly I do applique and collage.

sewing machine question, kind of lame, sorry: I ONLY want to make basic A-line skirts and sew up pillows. i've never sewn by machine before either. what's the cheapest thing I could humanly buy that would do that? TIA :)
