Valentine's crafties
Feb. 15th, 2003 08:03 pmI made a few things for valentine's for my boyfriend who's into punk music.

Prototype record for clock experiment, record album storage book with spray-painted anarchy symbol, and AAA record clock

I made this clock by scanning in an AAA record I was giving him for v-day also, and then printing on high-quality paper, cut it out and adhered it to the center of a thrift store record. I stole some of his pyramid spikes and used them for hours and made an anarchy stencil and used spray paint for that symbol in the corner. Oh, and the clock hands were from an old thrift clock and they were black, so I sanded them to a brushed silver to match the stud hours.

My boy is vegan, but he wanted one of those leather journals with the tie that goes around..small, to fit in his pocket and jot notes in. So I made him this one, totally animal friendly. I wanted the patch to be something arbitrary, so I conceived a spiffy 14 (for v-day) and painted it on.

The inside. I cut all the pages from papers that I have collected for years..peanuts coloring book, old she-ra image from an iron-on I made, clear transparency paper, construction paper, ledger book sheets, map prints, heart prints, picture pages, pages from a vintage clifford book, handmade paper, etc. I embellished all the pages with little notes, special scissor edges, punch-outs, stamps, quotes, among other things. He talked about how when he found a book he hoped it would have ribbon bookmarkers in it "like indiana jones'" so I found a way to add those in too. I bound it, covered it in corduroy (with patch already sewn on), put a logo patch inside the back cover, and it was done. yay!
oh, and he almost cried when he opened it. (I made him open the book last and I told him would be the coolest present, and he said "cooler than the clock?!!?") he said it was too special to write in..but I told him he had to, so he said he would have to find the perfect pen before he did.
