I drew this on paper and then I cut it out of some black fabric and sewed it down to a piece of felt. It took foreverrrrrr but I like it a lot. I think I might put it on a purse, eventually. It's going in my "eventually" pile. My "when I find a sewing machine that doesn't make me want to impale myself on a fencepost" pile.

Speaking of which...I just bought a Singer Protege. Is that the biggest mistake ever? I really need to know a good machine to buy. I'm new to sewing and so clueless. Is it better to get an old one at a refurbishing sort of store or what? The lady at Target told me to get a brand that starts with an H, but I forgot the name. Her recommending a totally different machine that they don't sell didn't exactly give me warm fuzzy feelings about the one I was walking out of the store with. Help?
