Cold Iowa winters + big old drafty house = grumpy freezing girls paying huge gas bills.
So I thought in addition to putting that clear plastic on the windows, perhaps insulating/warm fabric for curtains may help hold some of the heat in and the drafts out. My mother suggested fleece. I found four $3.88 throw blankets @ wal-mart (ew, I know) and the adventure began...

my naked bedroom windows

4 green fleece blankets

I folded the blanket over and sewed, making a gap into which the curtain rod slides

Finished product open and closed.

I know fleece isn't exactly the most fashionable fabric...I just hope it can keep my room as warm as it keeps my body.
