Okay now, so a bit ago I made these.
And then a short while after that, I made these.
Soon after that, my friend [livejournal.com profile] caitlinmary asked me for a tutorial and like 8 million weeks passed.
My brother-in-law's co-worker Rachael asked me to make her 2 of the frames and I figured this was a great opportunity to sit down and finally do the play-by-play.
(Sorry it took so long Caitlin!!!)

So with all that, here we go dearies, a felt frame tute!

1. First start out with a plastic photo sleeve. Mine actually came from a photo album page. Just snip the edges and you have the perfect sized sleeve for a 4x6 photo.

2. Erm, slide the photo in? Yes!

3. Take (2) 8x11 pieces of felt. Fold each one in half and cut.

4. Frame out (2) of your craft rectangles. (one must stay solid for the back!)

5. Glue your photo (in it's sleeve!) onto the solid piece of felt. (See my mad gluin' skillz?)

6. I use this for the glue.

7. Cut out and place your appliques. My favorite is birdies and this is what Rachael requested. Lovey dovey birdies are awwwww.

8. Get out yer needles! I use these. Along with dmc thread.

9. Sew them birdies on right!

10. Now take your preferred contrasting border thread and stitch along the inside of the frame.

11. See? All the way around in there.

12. Now place the frame onto the backing (which has the picture). Make sure each of the (3) layers of felt is lined up properly. As you stitch around the outer frame, you are creating a channel for the stuffing. Cool, eh?

13. As each side of the frame is stitched up completely, stuff that side.

14. And that's the frame all stitched, stuffed, and tied off. Looks nice!

15. Final step, take some heavy-duty glue (I used E6000) and glue on your magnets.

And that's it! You have a very lovey, homemade, handmade picture frame to make you smile and keep you happy.

Now wasn't that all fun and easy?
Cheers yo!
