Trying Woodcut printing

Well, I thought I'd branch out from my normal craftiness this Christmas and do some woodcut/wood block printing on my Christmas cards. I vaguely remember how to do this from high school art class, and I'm pretty good with the wood side of things, but what sort of paint/ink should I use? Is card stock okay for the paper? Thanks!
