[identity profile] langwidere.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
I've been lurking here for about two months, and I've been highly impressed with all the projects, crafts, and information I've come across because of this community! I'm not at all sure why I've chosen tonight to post, but I'm feeling extra crafty, so that might have a bit to do with it. Actually, this community was probably the biggest catalyst in my becoming crafty again after a very long creative lull. I could not thank you all enough!

My mom brought home a calendar from her work with a bunch of sketches by Picasso in it because there was one of a rooster that she really wanted. She had no plans for the rest of them, so I offered to take it off her hands. Mostly because where else will I ever come across a nice Picasso sketch for free, let alone eleven of them?

This picture piqued my interest immediately as I saw its potential in becoming an envelope! So that's exactly what I did with it tonight.

The front:

And the back:

(The template for this envelope can be found here if you're interested.)

I'm due to write a letter to one of my friends studying international affairs/global peace/diplomacy stuff, and I figured she'd enjoy this envelope very much.

And now for the requisite Valentine's Day crafts portion of my post. ;)

My boyfriend gave me six red roses (one for each month that we've been officially together) and two of them were too perfect for words. So I decided to use a tip that I think I read here... dip them in wax to preserve them. The whole process was a little ... odd, actually. It worked wonderfully, though and I'm pleased with the result:

If you click the picture you can see a bigger (though slightly different) picture of the same flowers. I'll be adding baby's breath and some more leaves as soon as they dry because I hung the rest of the bouquet up to dry in my closet.

If you're terribly interested in anything else that I've done, check this page out.

Thanks for looking! (And being an inspiration in general.)
