My Mom wants a soldering iron specifically for jewelry for Christmas. I thought it would be simple, just go to Fire Mountain Gems (www.firemountaingems.com) and order one from them. Turns out they don't have any. I passed the buck to my Dad to try and find one but he just ended up getting confused. All he could find were butane irons that had an "open flame" (like welding) that were capable of reaching the temperature necessary to solder jewelry silver.
So.
1) Does a jewelry soldering iron exist, or are they all basically tiny butane torches?
2) If soldering iron exists, recommend me one for a first timer.
3) Where can I buy said iron?
