Snowflakes!

WHEEEEEEE, If you live in a place where it doesn't snow like me and you feel oh so deprived- FEAR NOT.
We will make our own snow. 8D And If you get snow already then you can make more snow for your already-snow snow snow snow.
:D:D:D My friend learned this in her Chem class a few days ago and now I will share with you!
Things you will need:
1.

Borax. If you don't have any, make a trip to your local Safeway!
2.

Boiling hot water! Be carefullll~
2.
A Jar! Make sure there is a wide opening. :D
3.

A paintbrush/pen/pencil/stick thing.
4.

Pipecleaners! Doesn't have to be white.
You can make green snowflakes if you want. :P
5.

String/thread/wire- whatever you want, it will be used to suspend
the pipecleaner shape later on.
6. - optional - food coloring.
Yayyyy, so you have all that now- right? :D

1. First bend your pipecleaner into fun shapes. :D I want to make a heart this time.
2. Then using your string, tie it to your brush so it will hang like so. But we don't need it in the
jar yet, so set your brush and the suspending bended pipe cleaner aside for later.

3. Now we get to measure things! You can more in as much of the hot water
as you want, but just make sure you keep track of how much!
4. Pour the water in your jar and for every cup of water that you add, you'll need about 3 TBS of
Borax. I'm pouring in 2 cups, so I will be adding 6 TBS of Borax. :D If there's a lot of Borax at the
bottom you can stir it, but I don't think it really matters if all of it dissolves or not.

5. Now you can dump your pipecleaner back in the solution. Make sure it's fully submerged. If you
want to make your snowflakes/randomshape colorful you can add in a few drops of food coloring.
I personally like white, but it's up to you. :D
6. So now just leave your jar there for a few hours or overnight. I left mine aside overnight (14 hours) but I saw
some crystals form after 4 hours. If you leave for longer it'll be thicker,so you can experiment with time.
7. Once you see it has turned out the way you want, take it out place it on a paper towel to dry.
Yay, now you're done. :D If you want to wash your jar, just add hot water and it'll dissolve again.
**********IMPORTANT NOTE FROM
"But a heads up for those of you that have pets (or little kids, or prepare this near food..)- borax can be extremely toxic if ingested. less than five grams of it can kill a child or a pet. Just be careful with these! I figure a lot of you may have pets and not be quite aware of this (I wasn't even really aware of it myself until I looked it up. I have to be careful, I have a cat that finds a way to eat everything)."
