Dec. 18th, 2006 11:01 amWhenever I'm painting kokeshi, my daughters come over and start playing with the little dolls, so for stocking stuffers I made them each a set of what I call the Catholic Wee Folk Family.
Why are they Catholic? Because unlike commercial doll families, there are more than two children. ;) I wanted to include a baby as well, but when I cut one of the kid-size dolls down to size it didn't really look right. I also wanted to attach a mantilla or at least a veil to the mom's head, but I suspected it would come off when played with.
In my opinion these are much cuter than the horrible Little People they sell these days (the old ones are better and were obviously my model!).
