I'm getting Crafty, for Christmas.......
Dec. 24th, 2006 09:48 pmWell, of all the things that havn't been wrapped up or given away so far....
First up, a Copper Beaded Goddess Lady for my foster mom....

She stands about 12" tall, and is made of various beads, with a polymer clay base and face, and eyelash yarn for hair.
I made a thick wire frame using one long piece of copper I got at Home Depot. I twisted a loop for the head (smaller than the face) to have something to glue it onto later. I made sure the ends of the wire met at the bottom, so I could twist them up and stick them down into the base. I got a few of the biggest/heavest fishing weights I could find to stick into the clay at the base, to give it enough weight to keep the doll up-right. For this one, I used 6 of them, and hid them under some scrap clay, then a thinner layer of the pretty purple/blue/black mix.
I then made the tree pendant seperatly and wired that to the side. I them wired the beads in place, starting at the bottom and working up. I also added a few open spirals and a beaded one for something different.
The face is one from the Sculpty art doll mold...the largest one on the mold. I scored up the back and hot glued it to the metal head loop. I added a few beaded strands and made a mini-wig out of eyelash yarn. The eyelash yarn is glued to the back of the head to hid the hot glue and metal loop.
I had already given her one of my usual beaded dolls last year, so I had to come up with something a little different this year.
Next, a Flying Spaghetti Monster for my Man...

A pasta-y combination of cotton fabric tubes with pipe cleaners to make the noodly apendages, two big pufs for the meatballs, and of course, the googlie eyes. Making and flipping the tubes for the pipe cleaners was annoying!!! There is a "core" that is a simple stuffed rectangle that I needed to act as a base for all the noodles and the eye stalks.
