Hello!
I posted this in
longhair, and someone told me I should post it here as well. So, here's the most recent piece I've made (I'm putting things in an art show at Arisia).

And a close-up:

I made this with sterling silver wire, pearl beads (I can't remember if they're fresh or salt water, but I suspect fresh), and shells I found off the coast of Ireland. :) The base is a six-strand braid of 20ga wire, bent into a spiral, with 24ga wire providing support, making it look more like a spiral shell, and stringing the beads. The stick is 5ga wire (filed at both ends to make it smooth enough to handle and use on hair, and filed near one end to make a groove for attachments), with the part near the end wrapped in 24ga. 24ga wire also made the "chain" links with the shells and pearls. The shell in the middle had no holes or broken parts, so a cage of 24ga was made to attach it - the rest of the shells were able to be strung on the wire like beads.
