I'd like to try stencilling using freezer paper to make t-shirts and suchlike. I've found a UK-based website that sells freezer paper and some affordable craft knives, but I don't think I can afford a cutting mat at this time.

Is there anything I can use instead? Would thick cardboard be okay? I'm a poor student *sniff*.

Thanks in advance!

(Also, if there are any online tutorials or websites that helped you learn to stencil with freezer paper, please feel free to share them with me!)

EDIT: After all this talk of freezer paper, I visited a big art shop in the city centre and came away with two sheets of acetate and a big A2 sheet of architect's film, which the sales assistant recommends for stencilling. I also picked up a craft knife - all for only £2.50!

Thanks for all your help guys - I can't wait to start stencilling!
