Help straightening out necklace cord.

craftgrrlI bought this black plastic cord and while it's worked great for doll necklaces I can't get it straight enough for human ones. Does anyone have any idea how I can straighten this stuff out?
For doll necklaces it's perfect because the way it was wound up in the package is great for a doll's neck. Not so good for people.
