I've checked the memories, and couldn't find what I was looking for.

I want to get into sewing my own clothes, but don't really know where to start. I'm adept at hand sewing but want to get used to using my machine too. Are there any good books out there that will explain the basics of clothes-sewing to me? Preferably not something old and stuffy. I'm thinking something along the lines of Stitch 'n Bitch, but for sewing?

Any recommendations much appreciated. If you started from scratch without being taught, how did you learn?
