how do you fix the shitty sewing job someone did on buttons sewn on a t shirt?

the design is buttons sewin in little groups all over the shirt, and they were sewn on really crappily, their about to fall off an the shirt is new. I tried resewing it with a tighter knot but it's still really loose and floppy.
