Crayon Hearts
Feb. 15th, 2007 10:49 amI just wanted to say thank you to whomever it was that posted the crayon hearts they made a few days ago. My four kids and I have been snowed in thanks to the blizzard, and we made six hearts yesterday. We may make some more today as well. The kids really like them, and it was a nice change from the other stuff we had been doing to keep ourselves from going stir crazy!

I wanted to make a bunch of these for the kids to give to their friends for Valentine's Day, but I forgot to buy crayons before the blizzard hit. These were made with broken crayons I had been collecting for awhile. I plan on finding Easter egg molds and making crayons that way for the kids to give to their friends instead.
So thanks again to whomever it was that posted this idea! You saved five people from going crazy for a few hours yesterday afternoon! :)
ETA: I dug back through
craftgrrl (good grief, this is an active community!), and found the link: http://community.livejournal.com/craftgrrl/9826245.html
I didn't go back and check for instructions on how to do this. Instead I followed this tutorial: http://jas.familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts?page=CraftDisplay&craftid=11585
I used Wilton molds that were sort of rubbery and yet oven/dishwasher safe. I had no trouble popping the hearts out when they cooled.
