round one!

i can't remember if i posted here about it or not (i've been posting a lot about it to [livejournal.com profile] diy_pads, but i started using cloth pads recently (along with a keeper, which i seem to be developing a latex allergy to, but anyway....) and i asked a couple friends if they'd be interested in converting and they said yes! the downside: i get to make them all. i've never made any before, and after scouring [livejournal.com profile] diy_pads i have no idea what the best way to go about it is - there's so much to choose from!

so, i'm going for a lunapads-esque style, using the shape of my gladrags as a template.... seeing as i jumped the gun and cut out a TON of pieces in this style, i'll finish with those before i try something different. i also went ahead and added channels to all my gladrags inserts just because it seems to make more sense.... man, they really do suck (gladrags) when you consider all the improvements you can make.

fyi: i'm using flannel with a terry core.. except the the one on the right, i used two extra layers of flannel in the middle for a total of 4 layers (plus insertables). i have WAY more flannel than terry, so much that i'm sure i'll run out of the terry before the flannel... i'm assuming i can layer flannel for the same absorbancy, but how many layers of flannel do you think would be adequate to equal one layer of terry?

oh, and sorry for the dark picture, it's too late to screw around with my camera and i have to reinstall photoshop so i didn't edit the pic.

also, just extra - my quilt was well received, i had extra fleece so i made a matching blanket:

i like wrapping baskets of baby stuff : ) my friend's sister had a boy last year and i did about the same thing for her except all boy stuff (and no quilt). my favorite part is when everyone says in unison, "omg! you did this?? it looks professional!". yeah.
