Question and Legend of Zelda lamp!

First, a question. I'm looking to make some ear wraps, but I'm unsure of what kind of wire to use and where I could go about finding it. Any help? Thanks =)

Second, this is a photo of a lamp that I made a few months ago. It's Link from The Legend of Zelda. I personally think this is adorable, but I'm really biased. It's made of a flower pot, a plastic light fixture globe, covered in felt, and then was painted. It's an actual working lamp, but it's really just more for decoration ;)
