I volunteer to teach art with the Boys and Girls club, and my next session was requested to have a "theater" theme. I have taken some college classes on the subject, and thought that it would be neat to pull out some of my old costuming projects and wear it in for the kids. These are 11-13 year olds.

The final project will be a watercolor comp sheet with swatches. The kids will pick their favorite movie and redo some of the costumes to "better convey the mood" or something. We'll be going through the colors on the color wheel and assigning moods to them, talking about how shapes can help define a feeling or mood (wicked witch wears pointy hat, has pointy hem on dress, wears pointy shoes), talking about how to distress fabrics and such...

Any ideas on small projects that I can have the kids do, that are somehow related?

Making little cutout costume pieces out of paper like a paper doll, perhapse?
