Alice - A milestone achieved
May. 24th, 2007 12:50 pmHello - I've been lurking around for a little while, but haven't posted anything. But now I've made something I just have to share!

The very first jumper that I have ever made! (If this sentence compared to the picture above confuses you, I'll provide a handy Australian-to-American glossary: Australian jumper = American sweater, or close enough. Now we can understand each other. Yay!)
It's Magknits' Alice jumper, knitted in Patons Totem wool.

It's really very comfortable, and quite warm! Too warm for where I live, really - except in about the middle two weeks of winter, and only then in the morning and evening. But I'll be spending some time in Canada later this year, so I'll need it then!

The back.

Close-up of the fair isle band. This is also the first time I've ever done fair isle, so it's a project full of firsts for me. Although what you see there isn't really my first fair isle, as the first time I knitted the band it was far too tight and I had to frog it and start again - so that's really my second bit of fair isle. But it's the first one still in existence.
I'm really excited to have finally made a jumper. I've been knitting for years, but it's too warm where I live to really need wool jumpers, so I mostly make other things - scarves, bags, stuffed animals, socks. My biggest project before this jumper was my Gryffindor scarf - which is enormous and double-knitted (it's a tube), but an entire jumper is on a totally different scale. So I'm very proud of myself, and wanted to share :)
Seeing as I'm here, I'd also like to say that I really enjoy reading this community and seeing all the wonderful things people have made. So thank you everyone!
