first knitted FO... kindof FO...
May. 24th, 2007 12:04 ami recently learned to knit because i decided that i neeeeeeeded a ravenclaw scarf. the scarf got boring and i needed something more... instant gratificationish.

'dashing' pattern from knitty.com. i used lion brand cotton-ease and #7 dpns. note to self - next time you decide to try to learn knitting in the round on dpns, spend the extra 5 dollars and get bamboo needles. definitely had the needle slip out of all the stitches more than once.
anyway, i'm really proud of myself for making this because it's the first knit thing i've ever finished. not sure if i'll make the right one... i don't know how i feel about it though... it's pretty long and the part around my fingers is so loose... i think i'd like to make them shorter and maybe learn to decrease to get the finger opening to fit better.

ravenclaw scarf in progress, using the atypically pattern. #10 circular needles and just junk acrylic yarn so i could get the colors right. it's supposed to be navy blue and light grey/silver. mine is turning out ridiculously wide though... about 16 inches. it's taking forever and it's so boring to make, but i hope to have it done by the 7th book release.

this is my current crochet project, the frou frou cardigan from stitch n bitch happy hooker. i'm using paton's classic wool merino and a K hook. i started a couple days ago and so far i have the back and parts of the sleeves done. granite stitch looks so nice and is one of my favorites, but it's so repetitive... it gets dull.

(sorry, don't know how to rotate images) and a finished object... this is the afghan i made for my boyfriend for christmas. he's really tall, so i wanted it to be huge - big enough for us both to use together. it took around 2 months and 25 skeins of homespun yarn. it's really soft and warm, but i doubt i'll be using homespun for an afghan again... it's so fuzzy and weird looking after just a few months of use. i hate the colors, but lime green and dark purple together are his favorites. eww. ^_^
thanks for looking! ^_^
