First Time at the Dance Party
May. 29th, 2007 06:08 pmSo I recently got the most adorable dog in the entire world and (in addition to spoiling her in a billion other ways) I decided to make a scrapbook of her :) I've actually never made a scrapbook before so I'm kind of making stuff up as I go along. Luckily, from what I can gather, scrapbooking, like most cra fts, is sort of a free-form art. Use what you like, chuck what you don't, feel free to make up your own stuff, etc. So hopefully I haven't failed too miserably on my first go!
Constructive criticism is welcome! I've got a lot to learn, I know!

The first page I made was the sailor page. I'm having trouble getting those stick-on letters to stay on, might have to go back and glue 'em down.

Then I made the beach page, which will be opposite the sailor page in the book. :) (Cupcake is my dog's name, by the way!)

Next I did this yellow and black page. I still think it's maybe kind of scattery lookin' but I also kind of like it that way.

Then I made the red page, which strikes me as a bit plain but I wanted to quotes to stand out so I figured I shouldn't add much more.

Then last but not least I made this blue page. Also plain, but also with a focus on the calmness of the photos and the text. I added a few stamps and stickers to take up a bit of the space but that one was pretty straight-forward.

And last but not least, all the pages!
For those that are wondering, the text on the blue page reads as follows:
"Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of ther universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made." - Roger Caras
and
"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog." - Gene Hill
Anyway thanks for looking!
