Here's a puzzler for you....

I have a cotton waistcincher that I made earlier this year out of plain cotton.  Is there a way to treat the fabric so it looks like something other than cotton?  More shiny and vinyl-like?  I know how to do this with furniture, but no idea if there's any sort of flexible shellac or gloss coat that is made for fabrics.

Any ideas?
