T-shirt surgery ideas

Today I bought one of those official Harry Potter t-shirts second hand (it was $1 or something), thinking that I could transform it into something awesome to wear. The Hogwarts crest is pretty big and it takes up most of the front of the shirt. I'm not really a cosplayer, but I like costumes, and I was hoping that I could turn it into something suitable for wearing to movie/book releases. At the very least, stop it looking like official merch.

I am also deprived of any machinery, so any ideas will have to be handsewn.
