Alright, I need some help, pleeeaassee.

I'm teaching myself how to crochet. Since I'm going on written instructions, I really don't know if I'm getting it right or not.

Anyway, I've been practicing the single chain stitch but when I try and go to the next row, I think I'm doing something wrong. I'm following the instructions found here http://learntocrochet.lionbrand.com/

The problem is, as my rows increase and I try to turn my work (http://learntocrochet.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/faq-search.cgi?store=/stores/eyarn&faqKey=112), the piece tapers like this, only a little bit more dramatic:



what am i doing wrong??
