craftgrrl | a monstrosity of lip balm questions (Reply)

So i purchased the Lip Solutions base from thesage.com, and i did a test run with one tube today, so here's my questions:

1. It doesn't smell very good. I tried adding some vanilla but that didn't mix well and just made little brown balls. Suggestions for scenting/flavoring?

2. Is adding vanilla or other flavored oils going to make the lip balm "go bad" after a certain amount of time?

3. Can I add baby oil or something to make it shinier?

4. Why can't I microwave it? (Instructions says to melt over stove).
