misskats the name, sewing is my game
Aug. 10th, 2007 08:16 pmhello :)
i joined the community a few days ago and thought i would share.
i am doing classes in industrial sewing, but it is not something i am getting into. i will be attending design and art school next year to become a fashion designer
in the mean time, i do stuff like this.
i would like to point out that wasn't done on one of those machines you program the picture into.
each of those anal retentive lines is my own lol

my work

the original

my work. it was done by drawing a picture on one side of the calico, then sewing the lines on that side with the fabric underneath, then turning it over and cutting around the sewn lines (does that make sense?)

the black is fleece, and the tartan is wool. i saw a pattern for the shape online, and just drew it up on paper to her dogs measurements

the blue/black one didn't take very long, i only sewed around the larger of the lace pattern.
the purple one took a few hours, i sewed around every flower.
there is quilting underneath so it has that embossed look.
luckily for me i have the use of a bias binding machine, other wise it would've taken much longer

and i will leave it at that for now. i have a lot more to share, but i will save it for another time
thanks for looking :)
