gloves

i know this may be simple but i cant wrap my head around it right now.

anyone know how to make these kinda gloves? (pic below)
i wanna make half gloves out of solid fabric and not crocheted or knitted.
just simple fabric gloves with no fingers and a hole for the thumbs.
i dont really wanna use any elastic either. seeing as i dont have any.

btw, they are for a friend so....

also, anyone know a site/program/whatever to make your own patterns...? like on a grid type thing. im trying to make my own beaded design and im trying to figure out how to go about making it and such. like a beaded bracelet with a name on it. using seed beads.

hopefully this all makes sense.

i'm making a pair of pants sometime today and working on other crafts so i'll make sure to post pics asap.
